Introductions and War Stories
Sea Snipers,
Greetings! I am visiting from Tied the Leader. We have been aware of your outfit here since we started migrating over to the battlegrounds of COD. Much respect for what you have created here. Your inside-track to the developers and your private league are amazing accomplishments. Nice emblem in MW2! It's nice when The Maker recognizes your contribution. Eh? For over four years, we have been marshalling Gunslingers to the front lines of Xbox Live titles like HALO2 and HALO3. Please don't hold that against us. We make a committment to sportsmaship and strategy in anything we play. It looks like some friends of the Good Game Network have made their way over here as well. Shout out to Shooter. He tracked me down when this article ran, prior to the release of IW's new title. I am "David". Shooter was resourceful enough to track me down and call me at work. We had a great chat about the longevity of gamer communities, and the challenges in organizing more meaningul interactions. I am not here to recruit, self-promote, or enlist a team in SEAL. Rather, I wanted to network a little with like-minded communities. At TTL, we thrive on Matchmaking. We love the random element of unknown opponents in the chaos that is Xbox Live. We enjoy taking on the world, and defending an outpost of maturity in the wilderness. We live for the war stories against the fools who insist on talking trash to their opponents. Case in point: About a month ago, the following conversation occurred in a post-game lobby of MW2. We encounterd some rather unpsportsmanlike fellows that - in defeat - suggested that we adhered to an alternative sexual lifestyle. Most of them were sporting an SS clan tag, so we kicked their tires to make sure it wasn't y'all... US: Good Game THEM: Nice camping. US: Thank you. THEM: [something to the effect of "You are not welcome"] US: What does "SS" stand for? Sprinting Shooters? THEM: Never heard that one before. US: No, really. What does it stand for? THEM: It stands for your mom. US: Hmmm. Never heard that one before. It doesn't really matter anyway. Those are just temporary clan tags. They will be different tomorrow. Right? THEM: No! They've been that way for a long time! US: Are you guys the Sea Snipers? THEM: No. [laughs] US: Well, then you are borrowing that from someone else. THEM: No we are NOT! US: Alright, then. What does it stand for? THEM: You wouldn't understand. US: Try me. [wait for it... here comes the punchline] THEM: The SS was the CSI of Germany in World War II. [pause] US: [boisterous laughter] Uhhhhh... No they weren't. THEM: Yes. They were! US: No. They really weren't. SS stands for Schutzstaffel. They were a lot more like the Secret Service - like secret nazi police. THEM: ... US: And they didn't investigate crime scenes. They are more notorious for having created them. THEM: ... US: Did fingerprint technology even exist back then? THEM: ... US: Vee vant to inshpekt zee carpet fibers! THEM: ... US: Coming up next is CSI Berlin! Starring David Hasslehoff as Detective Rolfe Von Schaumburg. THEM: ... [and, scene] Clearly not the Sea Snipers. Anyway. I would love to get some games in with any of you. The TTL Gunslingers enjoy joint-task forces with our allies. 3 of us, 3 of you, and your favorite playlist? Peace! p.s. This is my first post. If this is in the wrong place, please forgive and relocate. |

What's up X, lol welcome to the boards. I activated you a while back. And yes you'll get that, imposters etc. You can always check here or our Crew page and remember that our players have clan tags IN our XBL GT's. That's one way to tell for sure.
Have fun in here, the boards pretty active, lots of good peeps in here. I'm gonna ask you questions, and every time you don't give me answers, I'm gonna cut something off. And I promise you... they will be things you will miss! |

Welcome to the forums.. We once played a match against a clan sporting -SS- tags. They too were for the German themed group. I think the guys we played were more mature than the ones you encountered. Heh.
Again welcome. Hope we get the chance to play sometime. |

I think I was in a room with similar guys. They were excited that they were going up against a clan and thought they were going to rock us the whole match; they didn't. Back in the lobby we were asked how we got that logo next to our name- it was fun to tell them that IW put in our actual clan logo as an unlock since we worked on the guide. I don't think they believed me.
Welcome to the boards. I'd love to play a few rounds when I get my RROD box back. |

As a self proclaimed ww2 history nut, i'm not sure those people, (the second ones mentioned, not the ones who thought they were csi) should be glorifying the S.S. at all. I'm a sympathizer to the nazi footsoldier, but even to me, those men were sick.
Other than that, is there any way you can distinguish the actual clan members online from imposters currently, other than visiting the site? Also, if i ever manage to unlock the emblem, do you mind if i use it, even though i'm not actually a Sea sniper?
