RB6 Siege patch updates.

I realize not a lot of folks are playing this. But for those of you that haven't checked back....there have been continuous tweaks and fixes. I will say eight months later….I still love this game. Here are the latest from here.

General Tweaks and Improvements
Operator Balancing

Kapkan can place his gadget at any height and it is now harder to spot
There are several changes to Kapan’s Trip Wire gadget that will make his role much more tactical; he’ll be harder to anticipate than in the past. First of all, we’ve removed the red screw that displays on the opposite wall of where the gadget is deployed, which is a dead giveaway for any seasoned player. The Trip Wire laser now has reduced intensity making it harder to spot by attackers, and is slightly less audible when deployed. And now with Patch 3.3, Kapkan can set his Trip Wire gadget at any height on the frame of a doorway or window. We believe these tweaks will restore Kapkan’s former glory and make him a force to be reckoned with.



Mute’s Signal Disruptor has increased range
We have made the jamming zone larger on Mute’s Signal Distruptor. Before the update it was set at 1.5 meters of radius, and with Patch 3.3 it is now set at 2.25 meters. This range will let you jam larger areas around walls as well as reinforced ones, as well as making it almost impossible for drones to jump through.



Both changes were made because these Operators' gadgets are relatively underwhelming, and the win/loss ratio and pick rate for these two were well below average. For example, Kapkan had the 4th weakest win ratio and 2nd lowest pick rate. Mute had the 5th lowest pick rate, 2nd lowest kill/death average, and 2nd lowest win rate. As players have become more experienced with the game, they know how to counter these Operators. By making these changes, we hope players will find new ways to play these Operators.

Ranked Team Killing

If a player repeatedly team kills in Ranked PVP, they will temporarily be banned from Ranked PVP matchmaking. After multiple offenses, a permanent ban may be issued to the offending player’s account.
• First offense: Banned from Ranked Matchmaking for 15 minutes, 50% renown penalty for 30 minutes.
• Second offense: Banned from Ranked Matchmaking for 30 minutes.
• Third offense: Banned from Ranked Matchmaking for 2 hours.
• Fourth offense: Banned from Ranked Matchmaking for 24 hours.
• Fifth offense: Banned from Ranked Matchmaking for 7 days.

Duration of a suspension will be decided at Ubisoft’s discretion, on a case by case basis. After multiple offenses, the player may receive up to a permanent ban. Actual disciplinary action may differ from the list of examples depending on the severity of the behavior and, again, shall be decided at Ubisoft’s discretion, on a case by case basis.

We will have more information on next steps for Team killing Casual matchmaking in Patch 3.4 in July.

Changes to Renown Boosters.

Alongside our Operator changes, we’re also happy to announce that we’re increasing the amount of Renown that is offered with our Boosters.

At the moment, Renown Boosters provides the player with 50% extra renown and everyone else in the party 10% extra renown. For each subsequent player with a Renown Boost, every other player will receive an additional 10% Renown Boost, up to a maximum of 90%. Finally, if everyone owns a Booster, they will all get an additional 5% Renown, to bring the total bonus renown to 95%.

Now, after the change, Renown Boosters provides the player with 100% extra Renown, alongside providing everyone else in the party with a 10% Renown Boost. For each subsequent player with a Renown Boost, every other player will receive an additional 10% Renown Boost, up to a maximum of 140%. Finally, if everyone in the team owns a Booster, they will all get an additional 50% Renown, bringing the new total bonus Renown to 190%.

We're hopeful that this change will allow players who use Renown Boosts to get the most of them and to let them earn rewards, such as our new Blood Type Charms, much quicker.

Main Bug Fixes

Gameplay
FIXED - If a Shield-wielding Operator does a melee attack at the same time as an opponent triggers the shield break animation by meleeing the shield, the shield still completes the melee attack.
FIXED - The Player is unable to select other drones or scan enemies when spectating a teammate's drone during the preparation phase and after the player's drone has been destroyed.
FIXED - Cameras can still ID enemies after they get destroyed.
FIXED - The button for spawn point selection is not displayed on HUD after the player's drone is destroyed.
FIXED - When attackers' drones are destroyed during the prep phase, players see for a few seconds the first-person view of another attacker prior of going into support mode.
FIXED - Defensive cameras' HP is too high, and this may create situations where a bullet hit doesn't break them in 1 shot.
FIXED - Reload animation on the L85A2 in third-person has hand misaligned with gun handle.
FIXED - The left hand is misaligned with the L85A2 when using the melee action near a collision surface while rappelling.
FIXED - Changing to ADS view on the M870 with the Laser Sight won't hide the laser.
FIXED - The Laser Sight dot remains at the center of the screen when sprinting with the D-50.
FIXED - There is a broken animation between the third and first-person POVs when an Operator tries to throw back a Frag Grenade.
FIXED - Detonating a Nitro cell won't cause any damage if placed between the bomb's canisters.
FIXED - Deploying a Floor Reinforcement on top of a drone will trap it there.
FIXED - [PC] The player switches to the drone view by pressing ESC.
FIXED - [PC] Hold and Toggle behavior are inverted when having a customized key.

OPERATORS

MONTAGNE
FIXED – It is possible to complete any action instantly after switching weapons while the shield is deployed or has been fully extended.

BLACKBEARD
FIXED - If Blackbeard interrupts secondary weapon switch by installing the Rifle Shield, the Rifle Shield will appear as though it is still mounted on the Primary Weapon once it has been removed.
FIXED - The muzzle flash glare remains present on the Rifle Shield when the Flash Hider attachment is present.
FIXED - The Rifle Shield is invisible when viewed in support mode.

VALKYRIE
FIXED - Various objects (desk fans, fruit bowls, file stacks, cardboard boxes, etc.) collide poorly—if at all—with Valkyrie’s Sticky Cameras. Now, when a Sticky Camera is deployed on one of these small objects, they will break upon impact.
FIXED - Valkyrie's Sticky Camera's clip through ventilator if it is placed on a shelf in Bank - 1F Electric Room.
FIXED - If deployed on a trap door, Valkyrie's Sticky Camera will appear on a random nearby wall after the trap door is destroyed.
FIXED - Valkyrie can throw a Sticky Camera through a wall at a certain location in Kanal and the camera will not detect other players or AI enemies at this location.
FIXED - Jager's gadget collision box will cause Valkyrie's Sticky Camera to float.
FIXED - The Sticky Camera has no collision with the top frame of a wall reinforcement.
FIXED – Valkyrie’s Sticky Camera can be thrown through the gaps of the sandbag window on Oregon and can film outside.

MUTE
FIXED – The graphics on Mute's Signal Disruptor do not completely block the drone's view if the player has evaded the gadget, but then gets caught by the Disruptor.
FIXED - Reinforcing a wall on Oregon breaks Mute's Signal Disrupter even if it is far from the wall.

TACHANKA
FIXED - Players that mount Tachanka's LMG while using the secondary weapon will have no recoil animation in third person.

KAPKAN
FIXED - The Trip Wire placement animation while crouched is offset.

IQ
FIXED - IQ can still scan cameras and gadgets with her unique gadget while running.

SLEDGE
FIXED – Sledge can appear to have an invisible gun when he uses the Sledgehammer on a Trap Door and jumps through while aiming.

SHIELD OPERATORS
FIXED - Several instances where Shield Operators can become invisible after performing multiple animations.
FIXED - [BLITZ / MONTAGNE / FUZE] Players cannot get headshots when shooting at the top of the shield if it's positioned on Operator's back.

LEVEL DESIGN

KANAL
FIXED - Deployable Shield placement in KANAL's garage allows player to get inside the white truck.
FIXED - [Kanal] Players can shoot through the indestructible wall, floor, and ceiling close to the camera in the Maps Office Hallway to the Control Room.

CONSULATE
FIXED - A player is able to vault inside the white van located in the Garage.
FIXED - Drone can pass through the wall textures at 1F Service Stairs.

OREGON
FIXED - The player can force a collision on top of the Kids' Dorms beds in order to shoot outside the house.
FIXED - Players are able to vault inside and under the stairs at 1F Office.
FIXED - Adjacent bomb locations cause the "Plant Defuser" prompt to default to "Drop Defuser" after passing between these bomb locations.

HOUSE
FIXED - An attacker can force a collision with rappel to enter the Master Bedroom through the wall.
FIXED - It is possible to shoot through an unbreakable wall when breaking off its surface.

BANK
FIXED - There is a way to get below the surface of the map and roam around.

YACHT
FIXED - Gadgets thrown or deployed on the left wall in 2F Cafeteria have no texture.

PLANE
FIXED - Black pixels appear after throwing stun grenades on the Main Entrance stairs.

CLUB HOUSE
FIXED - Attackers can place the defuser on the stairs at 1F Eastern Stairs when the bomb location is 1F Stock Room.

KAFE DOSTOYEVSKY
FIXED - The player can remain stuck between two tables located on the western wall of the "Bakery 1F" area.
FIXED - Drone can fall out of bounds when trying to get past the fence near the Park Alley spawn point.
FIXED - Floating footprints can be seen in front of the desk at 1F Dining Room.

BORDER
FIXED - Sticky Cameras can be thrown outside during prep phase in 2F Offices.
FIXED - Attackers are able to plant the defuser where the defenders can't defuse it in the Server Room.
FIXED - Players can vault on the circular rotunda on the roof by standing on the bucket nearby or if pushed by another player.
FIXED - The red flare clips through the ground at EXT - West Vehicle Entrance.

TERRORIST HUNT

FIXED - On Oregon, there is a missing button prompt on Refill Box in 1F - Kitchen.
FIXED - Barbed Wire placed by the AI enemies on the 1F Bar Stairs can be set perpendicular to the ground.

RANKED

FIXED - The Renown penalty for abandoning a Ranked match are not applied after completing Situations.
FIXED - Player receives the "Rank Up" message on the After Action Report when he gets demoted to an inferior rank.

MISCELLEANEOUS

FIXED - Charms can sometimes clip through shields.
FIXED - On the MVP screen, Fuze is holding the AK-12 incorrectly.

CUSTOM GAME

FIXED - Local Custom Games appear in the Online menu after a Local Match is completed.
FIXED - Custom game matches are tallied in global PVP stats. This is not the intended behavior.

SPECTATOR CAM

FIXED - Operators can spawn as part of the opposite team if the "Switch Team" function is used just as the match begins.

IN-GAME SHOP

FIXED - An infinite loading icon remains at the center of the screen after attempting to purchase 2 Rainbow Credits packs in quick succession.
FIXED - A Player is no longer able to buy R6 Credits after certain circumstances

And yet another patch update. They're doing well with balancing out characters so you really have to think about how tactically you're going to assault or defend. Also WHAT you're defending: will it be a hostage, two bombs or a secure area?

Patch 3.4 will be deployed on July 13th for all platforms.
Translated versions of these patch notes will be published as quickly as possible.

General Tweaks and Improvements
Operator Balancing

Pulse has better visibility, more reliable information, and it is now easier to read feedback.

For the update to Pulse in Patch 3.4, we wanted to give him better awareness by increasing the visibility he gets of his gadget. A lot of times players would get caught off-guard while using Pulse's gadget, and we intend for this new update to improve situations like that. Pulse’s gadget's detection marks were static on the screen and this was sometimes difficult to interpret. We have changed these marks to provide a better representation of the enemy’s world position.

After Update 3.4, if you detect an enemy and look away, the “ring” will stay at the enemy’s position, and not remain on the screen at the same position it was when the enemy was detected. We felt that we weren’t fully delivering the experience and the fantasy of the heartbeat scanner with the previous design. We hope you will enjoy the new graphic, audio, and visual update we are applying to the gadget as well!



Team Killing

Gameplay

FIXED – Ubisoft Club challenge rewards required players to restart their game client. (Reward is now automatically placed in your inventory once you redeem the challenge)
FIXED – Xbox One users were unable to create Custom Matches while offline.
FIXED – Casual menu can be accessed even while banned.
FIXED – Camera devices float when a player is killed while using it.
FIXED – Player's weapon disappears if a pickup animation is cancelled.
FIXED – SR-25 has a flickering texture on top side of stock.

FIXED – Unable to revive himself if put in a DBNO state during the vaulting animation.

FIXED – Turret will float in the air if it runs out of ammo.
FIXED – When viewing Tachanka as a spectator, there are multiple visual/animation conflicts.

FIXED – Replay and Spectator mode cameras sometimes made Blackbeard appear to have no recoil.

FIXED – Throwing a Black Eye outside during prep phase does not destroy it. (This does not apply to Terrorist Hunt)

FIXED – No sound effects can be heard when a Shock Wire Battery is placed on barbed wire on stairs.

FIXED – Players are able to rappel in the air at EXT Front Lawn from EXT Coast Guard Roof.

FIXED – Placing a Black Eye next to a window in the 2nd Floor Hallway in Preparation Phase destroys the Black Eye.

Ubi is treating rainbow like a service. They want it to be big in the competitive scene. So that means no sequels every year and keep it updated and balanced.

so far they are doing pretty good.

Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Skull Rain expansion is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 2. As with previous Rainbow Six Siege expansions, Operation Skull Rain includes two new Operators: Caveira and Capitão, both from Brazil’s Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE). The new Operators will be instantly available to Season Pass holders, who will have exclusive access to them for the first seven days.



Caveira is the defensive Operator of the two. As such, she possesses the “Silent Step” skill that enables her to sneak up on enemies to immobilize and then interrogate them to reveal their teammates’ location. Her arsenal includes an M12 and SPAS-15 for primary weapons, a PRB92 as a secondary, and Nitro Cell C4 and Barbed Wire for gadgets.

As the attacker, Capitão carries a tactical crossbow that can fire asphyxiating bolts that burn oxygen within a certain radius, as well as micro smoke grenades that can mask positions and team movements. Capitão also has an M-249 and PARA-308 for primary weapon options, a PRB92 for secondary, and frag and stun grenades rounding out his available arsenal.

Operation Skull Rain will also have a new map for teams to do battle. Set in a Brazilian favela, this new map supports exterior shell destruction, making it Rainbow Six Siege’s most destructible map to date. The new map will be free for all players.

Finally, the development team will also add several tweaks and improvements to the overall Rainbow Six Siege experience. Perhaps the biggest of these is the addition of a Tactical Realism custom game mode. By popular request, the Tactical Realism mode prevents players from marking enemies, allowing only the timer, compass, gadget, and weapon panels to be visible in the HUD. Additionally, there are no kill confirmations, and more realistic magazine management will be put into play. The idea is to push players to rely even more on their teammates and communication for information on enemy locations and kill counts.

A new angled grip attachment and a new surrender system will also be introduced in the update. The angled grip makes the transition between hip fire and ADS much faster, creating a faster-paced style of combat. Meanwhile, the new surrender system makes it possible for your team to surrender during a ranked match with a majority vote, but matches can only be surrendered before the third round.

I thought these were great additions to the game as well:

Other additions in Skull Rain are an angled grip attachment (which takes less time to switch from hip fire to aiming down the sights), a surrender system (letting ranked matches end early if the majority of a team votes for one before the third round), and a Tactical Realism custom game mode (doing away with kill confirmations and a number of other HUD elements, and adding "more realistic magazine management").

UNIQUE ABILITY
Equipped with the Tactical Crossbow TAC Mk0, Capitão can fire two types of ammunition: asphyxiating bolts and micro smoke grenades. The asphyxiating bolts burn the oxygen in a given perimeter, which is lethal to your target. The micro smoke grenades enable you to mask your movements. Deliver swift and agile assaults without alerting your opponents of your position.
The new map, called Favela, is set in the slums of Brazil. Claiming to be the most destructible map to date, Favela will mix narrow streets with high vantage points. Expect plenty of sniper and shotgun opportunities here.

UNIQUE ABILITY
Caveira’s predatory stealth technique, the “Silent Step,” allows her to lurk on her preys, almost inaudible, until it’s too late. Caveira’s ability allows her to sneak on her target, swiftly immobilize them and force them to divulge the position of the opposing team (the interrogation mode). She is also equipped with the “Luison,” a unique PRB92 with a custom suppressor and subsonic ammunition. Do not simply neutralize your opponent; make sure that no one gets away.

New map:



NEW CUSTOM GAME MODE (BETA)
We’re glad to finally introduce the Tactical Realism, which will add a new gameplay mode to Custom Games. Inspired by your enthusiasm towards getting a ‘Hardcore’ mode, we created the Tactical Realism mode to foster a better immersion by relying less on the in-game feedback. We endeavored to offer a realistic experience via several modifications, namely, limiting the HUD to only display the Round Timer, Compass, Gadget & Weapon Panels; preventing you from marking your enemy; removing the kill confirmations; providing a realistic Magazine Management for ammo; and much more. This is a first step toward immersion, and we wish to gather your feedback in order to improve this iteration.

NEW ATTACHMENT
To cater to a variety of playstyles, we created a new attachment: the angled grip. We had the opportunity to have Serenity 17, a R6 top level player testing it at our Montreal studio. Here are the observations and tips he had to share with us: "The angled grip accelerates the transition between hip fire and ADS, which allows for an aggressive and fast-paced playstyle. However, make sure to take into account that the angled grip is less stable in terms of recoil than the standard grip, so holding your angles might be tricky with this one."

SURRENDER SYSTEM
If the field becomes too rough for your team, you can now cut it short and move on to another match. The objective was to accelerate the process by allowing a team to forfeit if they do not wish to be forced to play the match through the end. You can now cast a vote to surrender during a Ranked match. You will need the majority on your side for your team to forfeit. Please note that this new feature is only available prior to the 3rd round.

  • Location ping has been upgraded to be more user friendly
  • The in-game HUD now provides more clear information at a glance
  • Less invasive HUD when the defuser is on the ground
  • Most recently played playlist will be the default selection when accessing the main menu
  • Ping (latency) and FPS information is now displayed to improve awareness of performance
  • More intricate mouse sensitivity options
  • New menu mouse algorithm has been implemented

RANKED
  • Ranks will be partially reset at the beginning of Season 3
  • Number of ranked qualification matches needed to get a rank is now displayed

Just played the Tactical Realism mode last night. Here is video of some other folks playing it.



Basically, you don't have icons over everyone’s head. You HAVE to know who's on your team what they look like and you won't get a kill count. So if you go down no one will know unless you tell them. At first I thought for sure there was going to be a ton of team killing since you don’t know if the person you’re meeting in the hallway is your guy or the enemy. But after a few rounds you get used to it and it really keeps you focused on the map!! You’re looking at pretty icons or distracted by down enemy symbols, etc. I have to admit, I like it very much.

Also the graphics have been improved….like a lot! I’m surprised that they’ve gotten better and better over each new release. Great stuff.

More People Are Playing Rainbow Six Siege Now Than At Launch 40% spike since the release of new content.

By Vince Ingenito According to numbers provided to IGN by Ubisoft, Rainbow Six Siege's "daily player total is higher today than it was when we first shipped the game nine months ago."

The actual number of daily active users is up 40%, and the spike comes on the heels of the new content update, Skull Rain, which went live last week.

The developers of Rainbow Six: Siege recently began banning "thousands" of players who have been cheating, as detected by Battle-Eye, the recently implemented client-side anti-cheat system.

"We invest in Rainbow Six Siege as we would invest in our own home - we check the pipes, the foundations and everything else," said creative director Xavier Marquis. "That's because we are here to stay."

Patch 4.1 will be deployed on August 25th for all platforms.
Translated versions of these patch notes will be published as quickly as possible.


Pulse Rebalancing
Reduced range for Pulse’s gadget, and he can no longer quick swap out of his gadget.
The previous update that we did on Pulse’s Heartbeat Sensor not only made it more comfortable to use, but it also made him stronger since the frequency of the heartbeat detection updates became higher. Combined with the fact that it was possible to switch extremely fast from the Heartbeat Sensor to the main gun, this made him too strong – our gameplay stats and the community feedback made that very clear. As a consequence, we have opted to tweak him as follows:

Detection range of Pulse’s Heartbeat Sensor is reduced from 13m to 9m.
Pulse will no longer be able to instantly switch from his Heartbeat Sensor to his previously equipped weapon by pressing the weapon switch button. This means the delay before the player can shoot will increase by 0.8 seconds (from roughly 0.4s increased to 1.2s).


Semi-Auto Shotgun Balancing

Semi-automatic shotguns will be getting a few tweaks to make them less powerful at longer range.
Based on the data we collected and feedback from the community and Pro League players, we have opted to balance semi-automatic shotguns. Patch 4.1 will be introducing these changes:

We will be reducing short range and medium range raw damage by approximately 25-30%.
For both hipfire and ADS (Aim Down Sight), we will be making their cones of dispersion wider by 1.5 degrees, which is approximately 10% more than their previous state. This means that there will be a less concentrated dispersion of bullets.


Our intention is to make semi-automatic shotguns carry out incredible damage at short range, but lessen their impact significantly from medium to long range. The damage falloff from the original damage output will now be more noticeable. At longer ranges, the accuracy of the shots will also be harder to predict with precision, as players will have less gradually less control the further away they are from their target.
The shotguns that will be affected are the following:

SPAS-12 – Valkyrie
SPAS-15 – Caveira
Super90 – Frost
M1014 – Pulse, Thermite, & Castle


A more precise breakdown of the aforementioned changes can be found in the table below.


*Please note that these damage numbers are per pellet. There are 8 pellets per shot.

Thermite
Fixed – Exothermic Charge does not destroy a reinforced wall in some instances.
Fixed – Thermites Exothermic Charge can be destroyed through a reinforced hatch.

Blitz
Fixed – Operators have a broken animation when viewing from 3rd person.
Fixed – Legs, arms, and the top of Blitz’s head are exposed when triggering his gadget.

Jager
Fixed – Jager receives twice the intended amount of points for disabling grenades.

Ash
Fixed – Some wooden walls require two breaching rounds to destroy.

Twitch
Fixed – After an Operator is killed by Twitch’s Shock Drone, they are able to see the drone highlighted while in support mode.
Fixed – Shock Drone is no longer available after being revived from a DBNO state and picking up your Shock Drone.

Caveira
Fixed – DBNO state’s blurred vision disappears when Caveira initiates an interrogation but cancels it.

Kapkan
Fixed – EDD will sometimes not destroy a barricaded door.

Sledge
Fixed – Enemy players are not killed when Sledge breaches a wall they are standing next to with his Sledgehammer.

Frost
Fixed – Welcome Mat texture is floating if it’s placed on a trap door and an attacker gets caught in it.

Valkyrie
Fixed – Black Eye Cameras pass through the frame of any window with aluminum shutters.

Fixed – Operators clip through the ceiling after a vault action over the wardrobe.
