GameFly Says People Wanted Batman More than Modern Warfare 3 or Skyrim

So Gamefly said that Batman was number one requested game...

Picking the best games of the year always boils down to opinion, which always leads to dissension over subjectivity and bias. So, while Kotaku's staffers rallied around Portal 2 as the site's GOTY, readers held their own damn awards and anointed Skyrim as their standout title for 2011.

Gamefly subscribers, however, came down differently than either one of those groups. The video game rental service aggregated data from its GameQs—users' queues of most-wanted releases—to generate Top 10 lists across various platforms.

The results? Batman: Arkham City placed high on every platform it was available for, landing at #1 for cross-platform and Xbox 360 and at #2 for PS3. Surprising no one, Uncharted 3 won out on PS3 and Super Mario 3D Land took the top spot on 3DS. The full lists follow below.

My cut. I’m going to rent (which is what GameFly is ‘technically’) a movie or game I wouldn’t want to pay $70 for. So, to me that means that Batman was really a game that wasn’t purchased but rented. Much like movies that do horrible in the box office, but rock out in video rentals. Reference the movie Office Space. It did horrible in the theaters, but was a gold mine for DVD rentals and a classic in everyones library. Thoughts comments?
