End of the World starts tomorrow
http://www.efluxmedia.com/news_Updat...nch_23799.html
The European Organization for Nuclear Research, also known as CERN, is ready to step into the next phase of its biggest and most expensive experiment to date. Over the past few years the agency has spent more than $8 billion working on a 27-km long tunnel near Geneva, which is packed with today’s latest technology. The Large Hadron Collider, as the Geneva machine is called, will recreate never before seen nature conditions by putting together subatomic particles called protons. The massive amount of data will be analyzed by 300 computer centers from 50 countries, turning it into the biggest computing exercise in history. There have been several voices claiming that once the machine will be fired up it will generate a black hole over Geneva. These rumors have been firmly denied by the organization’s officials. They explained that "any black hole produced would be much smaller than those known to astrophysicists," as the particle energy created by the LHC will be roughly the same as that of two mosquitos colliding. The entire mission so far is considered a general success, as it managed to bring together people from all over the world, scientists with different visions and methods. The official start is scheduled for September 10 and everyone awaits the moment, as the pressure and enthusiasm have been building up for several weeks now. Even though it will not bring any improvement to our lives, the mission is considered a significant step forward for DatGuy "doubts my connections". |

I am optimistic this research will really help the science of mankind turn a corner, allowing for new technology -- perhaps ultimately resulting in the creation of a process that can produce a lubricating jelly slicker than Astroglide (the current 'standard' in personal jellies).

lol they're talking about the atom smasher thingy. And last thing I read they will be breaking her in slowly. First running an atom one way, and slowly calibrating the test equipment. Then running atoms the other way and getting her nice and lubed up. Then the big collison and .....release. ahh that was nice. Anyone for a smoke?
