Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 team working on fixes as 'top priorities' says Creative Strategist.

MW3's multiplayer spawning and improvements to the game's replay theater options are being worked on above everything else according to Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling.

"MW3 State of the Union: Continuing updates with Spawn logic & Theater improvements as top priorities," Bowling tweeted.

Some players have questioned the placement of respawn points in Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer modes - one gamer asked Bowling "are they ever gonna be patched? The spawns in MW2 and COD4 were 10 times better and much more fair," to which the Infinity Ward man reiterated that a fix is a "priority".

Other MW3 fixes headed to the next update include improved voice-chat on PS3, and a fix for the 'out of memory 7' error, Bowling confirmed.

First Modern Warfare 3 DLC footage coming tonight at GTTV

The first footage of Modern Warfare 3 DLC maps will be revealed tonight at GTTV Thursday Episode. The information was confirmed on Twitter by Robert Bowling.

On Twitter, Bowling said,

Modern Warfare 3 first DLC will launch on January 24 for Call of Duty Elite members on Xbox Live. Gamers who don't have Call of Duty: Elite subscription will be able to buy first DLC map pack of Modern Warfare 3 in the month of March.

I’m sure there’ll be a huge push now for folks to get Elite.....or not?

Patch 1.08 coming:

Along with other updates, patch 1.08 will include a fix for the damage proficiency exploit in Modern Warfare 3.

Robert Bowling has revealed that “the ‘damage’ proficiency exploit is already fixed in the next patch. We’re now tracking anyone abusing it and will ban offenders.” Bowling went on to explain, “the exploit allowed you to assign Damage proficiency to primary weapon classes that didn’t have it available. No way to do it by accident.”

On another note, Infinity Ward is ”doing some updates to the leaderboards right now, so you might notice some wonky scores or incorrect placements for a little bit.”
Title update #8, patch 1.08, will be available for players to download some time this month.

The world’s most wanted pirate was also the No. 1 multiplayer player for Modern Warfare 3

Not only was Kim Dotcom on the top of the list of the FBI’s list of alleged digital content pirates. He was also apparently known as MEGARACER, the No. 1 player worldwide in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. A few weeks ago, Dotcom, who was born Kim Schmitz, posted a video that showed him taking the No. 1 position in Kills and No. 1 in Leaderboards in Modern Warfare 3, which is the best-selling video game of all time.

It’s an odd fact that Dotcom, who was the founder of recently indicted file-sharing company Megaupload, was the top player in a game for which he was also possibly the top pirate. Last year, Modern Warfare 3 was the second most-pirated game, according to the BitTorrent blog. Modern Warfare 3 discs were out in the wild, being pirated and uploaded to the web even before the Nov. 8 launch of the game. The game still sold a reported 15 million copies, and clearly Dotcom had a purchased copy, or else he would likely have been kicked off the online game play. Getting to the No. 1 spot amid so many players is a major feat.

Dotcom reportedly has assets worth $175 million, thanks to his Megaupload business, which feds said made most of its money from illegally distributing copyrighted video and audio. He was arrested in Auckland, New Zealand, last week as part of a major sting against Megaupload. His assets included a Rolls Royce, numerous Mercedes-Benz cars, cash, and many guns. And apparently he was so rich, he had plenty of time to become a master of Modern Warfare 3.

In the video below, MEGARACER celebrates as he takes the lead, noting he has more than 150,000 kills. The time-lapse video shows him winning match after match until he gets to the No. 1 rank. A cake shows the word MEGARACER in the shape of a “1,” confetti blasts, and friends cheering as he takes the top spot. He says, “Fuck man! No. 1.” Then the following words appear on the caption: “Don’t hate me because I beat you.

Modern Warfare 3 Patch 1.08 now available on Xbox 360

Robert Bowling confirmed the MW3 patch today contains:
improved lag comp
theater fixes
nerf to Striker
buffs to all other shotguns
YouTube uploads are now faster
Bowling also said the patch should be coming out shortly for PS3 and PC. "The PS3 version of the patch had PS3 exclusive updates that delayed it slightly".

Modern Warfare 3 DLC hits PS3 February 28.

Call of Duty: Elite subscribers get first grab at new maps Piazza and Liberation at the end of the month; additional content to roll out through October.

PlayStation 3 gamers eager for new Modern Warfare 3 maps now have a release date to mark on their calendars. Activision today announced that the Modern Warfare 3 content season for PS3 Call of Duty: Elite premium members begins on February 28 with two new maps.

Modern Warfare 3 DLC deploys for PS3 gamers this month.
Those with a paid subscription to Call of Duty: Elite can grab two new maps--Piazza and Liberation--on February 28. This is the same content that was made available to Xbox 360 gamers last month.

Activision did not mention when the maps will be made available to all PS3 Modern Warfare 3 players. However, the publisher said the first "content collection" will arrive sometime after its Xbox 360 debut in March.

So it looks like the PS3 folks will be a month behind the XBOX Elite folks. Map Pack 2 should be hitting the streets this month. But it will be only ONE map.

New MW3 patch available now, fix Elite DLC profile lock on Xbox 360

Infinity Ward has just released a new mandatory patch for Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 3. The patch weighs just 5MB and carries fix for the unintentional Elite DLC profile lock on Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 gamer made a huge uproar when they came to know about Elite DLC profile lock on Xbox 360. Last week Robert Bowling stated that this issue is unintentional.

Bowling stated, "who purchased the latest DLC Content Drop for Modern Warfare 3 while signed into other profiles on the same console that originally downloaded the content."

He further added, "this is unintentional and we will work to get an update out."

Modern Warfare 3 Gets Infected

The super-popular Infected playlist has been (or will shortly be) added to the public playlists on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, meaning that everybody can now play the game without playing in a private room - excellent news for those of us who don't usually have friends playing Modern Warfare 3.

Infected splits the group into two teams, infected and survivors. The infected team starts off with only a few people and must kill the enemy team in order to "infect" them. As the infected team gets bigger, the survivor's struggle increases and it gets harder and harder to be on the winning team.

No word yet on if other game modes will be being upgraded to the public playlists, I'm sure there's good reason for each of them to be available and we'll hear more in the not too distant future.

The next content drop for Call of Duty Elite subscribers is just two weeks away. Activision today announced that the Overwatch map will launch February 21 for paid Elite members on the Xbox 360. The map's PlayStation 3 and PC debuts have not yet been revealed (although if January's Elite downloadable content is any indication, PS3 owners will have to wait at least a month to get their hands on it).

Elite subscribers will get first crack at the Overwatch map.
The sole piece of new content for Modern Warfare 3 this month, Overwatch is a nearly symmetrical map set on top of a New York City skyscraper in the midst of construction. Gamers will need to watch their steps, as construction crews apparently haven't gotten around to installing safety measures like guardrails just yet.

Modern Warfare 3 Clan Operations Functionality Nears.

One of the big selling points of Call of Duty: Elite was the ability to not only form a clan, but to take that clan into competitions against others for fun and/or prizes. This was a highly touted leading up to the release of the subscription service, but likely hit the back-burner as Beachhead Studios scrambled to get the stat-tracking and enrollment processes functioning correctly. Though they have been working on getting the Clan Operations features up and running, and recently gave a status update on the functionality.

Over on the Call of Duty: Elite forums, Beachhead updated fans on the new features, and how you'll be able to interact with it on the Call of Duty: Elite website. It appears that the Clan Operation functions will be similar to the how the lone wolf style competitions have worked in the past. You'll earn XP as a group, and be given the opportunity to enroll in contests that not only offer bragging rights and medals, but prizes as well.

There's no official word on when these new features will go live, but the developer has said "We're currently putting all Clan Operations through extensive testing."
