COD didn't destroy the world, it made FPS BETTER. Lest we forget the awesome that was COD4. HUGE leap forward in FPS gaming. Then the LACK of inspired design, features, modes etc is what is killing FPS's. Someone call me, I'll help you make what we all need...

I'm gonna ask you questions, and every time you don't give me answers, I'm gonna cut something off. And I promise you...
they will be things you will miss!

COD4 was great because it was new and different, played awesome and was just plain fun...However, they haven't done anything new with the series in 4 years now...its stale, its old, and every iteration they make it easier and easier.

So now I find the game old and stale.

I agree with what tator has said about lack of inspired design, features etc is killing FPS...and look who is at the forefront of this problem...COD!

The thing is they wont change it because every year the sheeple shell out their money for the same game they paid 60 bucks for the year before just with shiny new textures.

THAT is the entire problem in a nutshell...I'll be here all week.

It will take a release that does not sell as well for them to change things.

Of course it is usually too late by then.....

i.e....the SOCOM series. By the time they figured out that they had pissed off their fan base enough that they deserted the francise, it was too late and the last installment didn't sell well. It was just a smoking pile of turd sitting on the sidewalk.

Hopefully this time, their developers actually listened and went back to the basics - but from reading that thread, it's sounding like another CoD clone, just with different maps and in TPS.

I answered you and DG in the SOCOM thread about SOCOM. But yes they are heading for a SOCOM situation. It is different though and the impact will be different because they have a much larger fan base. So I think the move will be slower. SOCOM had more intelligent players so the move was quicker.

Anyway - back to the topic of CoD....

I agree with Rator. CoD4: Modern Warfare changed FPS for people. No matter how much people complained about weapons, maps, etc. they still went back and played it.

My frustration right now lies with the spawn camping / trapping issue. I'm starting to run into more and more rooms where this is becoming the norm and it sucks ass. I might have to resort to go back to playing MW2 until Treyarch sorts out that mess. Leaving just one or two spawn locations on your side of the map was not the smartest move. They should have spread them out more, even on one side, to prevent a mess such as this.

Another case of, "Great idea - poor implementation."

You knew it had to happen:

From here

Developer Treyarch is celebrating the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops latest DLC Escalation with a planned double XP weekend bender starting May 6th.

Four new multiplayer maps are a part of the Escalation pack, including a new Zombies level. The debut trailer has gone live for our viewing pleasure.

The map pack is a timed exclusive for Xbox 360 because Microsoft are cheeky like that and it'll be out on Xbox Live May 3rd. Here's a rundown of what Escalation has:

- Hotel
Set on the roof of a Cuban luxury hotel and casino against the vivid backdrop of old Havana.

- Convoy
Delivers intense, close-quarters combat at the scene of an ambushed US military convoy.

- Zoo
Takes you on a wild ride in an abandoned Soviet Russian Zoo, with danger at every turn.

- Stockpile
Pits players in a remote Russian farm town housing secret WMD facilities.

- Call of the Dead
Features a unique Zombies experience with all-new playable characters.

As we get closer to the release date (next week), here's more footage.

First, let's take a look at Zoo and Hotel, compliments of GameTrailers:

Now for Convoy and Stockpile:
