That is awesome. However that technology has been around for awhile. I saw an HP demo of their printer that did the exact same thing in the exact same way in 1998 (around that time....). They had chain link medallions and a square box frame with a round ball inside (the ball was to big to be pulled out of the frame work) that were printed as one piece. What has changed is that the material for the HP items were weak and very breakable. I think it was something like cornstarch that was used as the binding agent. This printer uses much stronger materials.
If you ever watched the show "How Star Trek Changed the World" you will see that this is just one more result from that show. In Star Trek they put "material" in the machine and then it makes anything. Food, clothing, drinks, parts for the ship or whatever. This tech is VERY awesome in that it has made the Sci-Fi device a reality even if in a limited form. There is another company called MakerBot that sells a 3D printer for as cheap as $1300.00!! Heh. Cheap. That one uses a material that is the same as Lego's are made from. Here it is featured on The Colbert Report. (love that guy). The MakerBot only makes solid piece items though I think. $1300.00 if you assemble it yourself. $2500 if you buy it pre-assembled. http://store.makerbot.com/makerbot-thing-o-matic.html Last edited by [SS]Midnight : 07-07-2011 at 08:44 PM. |

The team in white thought they had scored and won...but there was STILL time on the clock. During THEIR celebration the other team, threw in the ball and shoot a three pointer to actually WIN the match.....
