Historical Item 2: Recruitment

As most of you know, the Sea Snipers recruitment program is probably the most difficult process in gaming.

The program has evolved quite a bit over the past 10 years, but the drop out rate remains extremely high, over 90% of applicants will fail.

We don't look for ringers or top 10 players, we look for good men, and we feel that has contributed to our longevity among other things.

We've decided to post a reminder of the difficulty of recruitment, The Bell. Stained with the blood of numerous failed recruits, the bell stands as a reminder to all that failure WAS an option for some.

If you think you want to be a part of something that's a little more than just a video game clan, and you don't know how to spell "fail" and don't know how to ring a bell, then you might be in luck. We have just recently re-examined our recruitment process and among other things, have made it a bit more "recruit friendly" so to speak.

Be advised, this does not mean the process is easy now, just delivered in a slightly different manner. If you want to apply, but don't think you're skilled enough, that doesn't matter. If you want to apply because you think you're awesome, cool, but don't think we're going to recruit you based on your skill alone.

That bell is filled with some AWESOME players that thought their skills would get them through. They didn't.

This is not a "beat you up for our amusement" kind of recruitment just so we can make it difficult. Every thing you do during your recruitment is done for a reason. They are tests. Examinations and tests of character that show us what kind of person you are.

From songs to funny sayings, videos and volunteering, the process takes and makes all kinds. Over the next month, we'll be posting a "recruit sig of the day" at the end of these posts. Wonder if they actually became Sea Snipers or just a name on the bell...
