Very interesting numbers. Makes sense that CoD would do better on the Xbox as it favors the Xbox (early DLC options for Xbox gamers).

What I do love about those stats is the HUGE increase BF is getting of the shooter market. BF3 only had about 29% of sales compared to CoD. Those stats above indicate BF4 as having 44% of the preorder market. Very nice. I really like the competition. Makes for better games for all.

Also in the article from your link I noticed that the PS4 is winning in a big way in the next gen "war".
Quote:

Reports VGChartz, "Up until the week ending August 24 the PlayStation 4 currently leads in the total number of pre-orders in the US with about 600,000. This is up significantly since E3 where there were only 75,000 pre-orders. The Xbox One is still lagging behind with 350,000 pre-orders. This is also way up since E3 where there were only 45,000 pre-orders."
According to those numbers the PS4 has 63% of the preorder market leaving the Xbox One with 47%.
I do hope MS is saying "DOH!" right now as I personally feel that these numbers have A LOT to do with why their console has the nickname "Xbox 180°".

reading is hard!

yeah MN, MS has some catching up to do after botching their reveal.

They have made good strides, but I believe they lost alot of consumer confidence.

its also no surprise xbox is leading with the COD orders.

I am also not surprised by the jump BF has gotten, they have put some amazing improvements in the game, and even though I thought it would be the same as BF3 with new maps and such, DICE is impressing me with what they are doing.

I did a search for "bf3 vs cod sales" which pulled up the BF3 vs MW3 numbers. And from the couple of articles it shows how BF/Dice is progressively growing in the shooter market.

Just today I read an article that talked about why Activision cranks out a COD every year. It boiled down to the obvious: to meet customer demand. The gamers want a COD every year. Even if it is not that much changed. They have shown that they like that. They have shown it with their wallets. Makes me wonder if DICE will be pressured to pick up on that.

The fact that BF4 is looking like it will almost double it's grab of the shooter market this next release make me wonder if the opposite might happen where Activision will feel pressure to take more time to change/upgrade each new title instead.

The variable here is that this next release will focus on the next gen consoles and so such thought and idea may be moot due to the massive change in hardware and/or forced to the back burner for the same reason.
