WIN!

[SS]Midnight 11-08-2009 09:04 PM

This looks fun. Pretty obvious that the prop you see there is not providing any thrust. It is feathered. Otherwise he would not have made it past it. Heh. Cool.

On some variable-pitch propellers, the blades can be rotated parallel to the airflow to reduce drag in case of an engine failure. This is called feathering.

Pretty brilliant. (Wait till the end when the balloon pops.)

[SS]Wally 12-07-2009 03:46 PM

So really if we all grab some Oxygen, and a huge weather balloon, we can all just launch ourselves into space. Thats the way I want to go out.

[SS]Snakebite 12-08-2009 10:50 AM

When I get old, I wanna be like the old man in UP. Just tie a zillion balloons to my house and float into space. I know it will work cause he did it in the movie. :)

Armchair viewing........too cool. I really liked the Ted Nugent interview too. And, speaking of rock-n-roll........I met the drummer for Dokken yesterday. At his house. I'm doing exterior home inspections in Louisiana and rolled up to this house around 1pm. The owner, a longish haired (greying) dude with ink all over his hands came out and shook my hand. Turns out he's Dokken's drummer. The odd part is he lives in a modest (nice but not stinking rich) neighborhood in Louisiana of all places and does about 150 shows a year he says. Really nice down to earth guy. I didn't recognize him. He had to lay it out for me before I caught on. I asked what he "does". He replied, "I play drums for an international band called Dokken." I was so engrossed in measuring and taking pictures that only the drums and international part registered at first. When the light came on, I took him to my car and pulled the cd out of my player and showed it to him......."Under Lock and Key". LOL. What are the odds?

[SS]Midnight 12-08-2009 04:21 PM

Nice.

You had him sign your CD, right?!?!

Tagger 12-08-2009 10:52 PM

Nah, I should've. But, I didn't want to seem pushy. I have his address though. Maybe I'll send him a Christmas card saying thanks for being cool or something.

Fan Builds Awesome War-Machine Costume

Quote:

To celebrate the release of the Iron Man 2 movie, Superherohype-forums member Masterle 247 is building a replica of War Machine’s costume, complete with all his gadgets.

Masterle 247 posted some cool photos of his work so far, and I have to say it already looks very impressive. The suit is made up of high impact urethane pieces, held together by around 600 rivets, it features a shoulder minigun and rockets, an arc reactor, light-up eyes and even repulsor gauntlets.

But Masterle 247 says his creation is far from finished. He wants to make his war Machine costume bulkier, more tank-like, so every part of his body is covered when he wears it.

I’m really glad War Machine and Iron Man will be able to get together in real life soon. Oh, if you guys really meet, make sure you take some photos and send them over.

AEJustin1 01-12-2010 06:26 PM

Tagger 01-13-2010 10:33 AM

"These aren't the girls you're looking for." Haha!!

[SS]Hobo 02-12-2010 09:57 PM

Yes, it does back flips. It is a Eurocopter BO-105 CBS 4 Twin engine helicopter. Stock model with a Rigid Rotor system, the fixed rotor is why it can do aerobatics.

[SS]Midnight 02-13-2010 08:48 AM

Back flips and barrel rolls in a chopah!! Win.

(my add prevented me from watching more than 1 min of the same thing over and over though...MT DEW!!!!)

Chenzo 02-15-2010 11:46 AM
