I didn't know they had Saber Tooth tigers only 12000 years ago. Where are they now?

Different findings have found fossils between 8,000 and 11,000 years old. As for how or why they died out - that's still up for discussion. Nobody exactly knows I don't think. I just watched a special on them not too long ago, where they even "built" a sabertooth jaw based on a fossil from a museum. Pretty amazing stuff.
