its so easy to do, apply a certain note t othe green button, another to the red button and so on and so forth, make your own chords by combining a C and a G or whatever, you could have SETS of note configurations too so that your verse parts are in E but your chorus uses C. So easy. So awesome.

I read a 5 page preview of this game in a gamemag I picked up the other day, and I gotta say this is going to blow everything out of the water...

And, in another piece of news so exciting it received its own press release, Metallica's Enter Sandman will be featured in the game. This will be the original master recording and not a cover. "Metallica is one of the best loved bands in the world and their albums redefined hard rock and metal. Its one of the bands we had to bring to the Rock Band experience," added Rigopulos. "Rock Band will allow gamers to jam with the guys through their long, successful career, from young, raw talent to mega stars, playing the hard-rocking sounds that the band is known for."

anyway, here's the list of DLC that will be released for RB:

Beginning November 20, tracks from Metallica, the Police and Queens of the Stone Age will be available in three-song packs for $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360 version), or individually for $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points.) Individual tracks by Foreigner, Wolfmother, the Runaways and others will also be available. The new content will be released on a weekly basis continuing through 2008 and ranging in price from $0.99 to $2.99 per track, with the "vast majority" selling for $1.99.

"We are excited to unleash some of the most beloved rock songs of all time for consumers to customize their Rock Band game experience - for an amazing price," said MTV Games Senior Vice President Paul DeGooyer. "The overwhelmingly positive response from artists, managers, music publishers and record labels has set up a queue of fantastic tracks that will continue to roll out every week."

I just got the bundle today along with a brand new 40" Samsung 1080p TV, man its a nice setup. Seems easier than GH3, but you need to be right on with your notes on the guitar, the drums, well Ill just say as of right now, I SUCK, lol. I wont even attept singing I dont think, we all know my skills at that, remember my [r] phase, lmao.

Rator, somewhere you were talking about how you didnt like the neck of the Fender, either on here or the 1st forums, cant remember and dont want to search, lol. I have the same prob with it digging in my thumb, try sliding your thumb up a little, there it a little spot that your thumd will kinda fit into on that piece that it on top of the neck, quite a bit more comfortable but takes a little getting use to sort of like strumming up n down, lol.

YEah... I don't have to use the adapter since my mic is just a plug (I don't have those 2 little plastic tabs on it.)

Plus, I've learned - and I'm not entirely sure if it's true, but it seems to be to me - that you need to have the controller that you want to talk thru as the PRIMARY controller. I.E. in slot 1.

So if you turn on yer xbox with the regular controller (so it's in slot 1), and then use the guitar (which would make it slot 2), the mic will only work with the controller in slot 1.

so uh yeah... when yer gonna rock band online, use the guitar controller to start the xbox so it shows up as controller 1

Ya, you can play online.

Was just playing " Run to the Hills " by Iron Maiden. Little bit of a tough song, but I'm known to be Mr. Medium, lol. Well I have now completed this song on the guitar, both lead and bass on hard, Ive gotten through the bass part on expert but I fail @ about 75%, almost there, lol. I think I might be able to do alot of the songs that are not really that hard on hard, still gonna take me a while to get expert down though, maybe I can do the easier ones on expert, idk, lol.

That was fun last night. Thanks Chenzo and Bas. Unfortunately, my fucking mic doesn't work on the guitar, so they're sending me a new one.

I think the first song we played, I was sitting on the edge of my desk chair and it rolled out from under me and I hit the ground... Ikept playing though...only missed a few chords...lol

I don't remember what that song was I went to try on Hard near the end of our wrap up there - but I hadn't heard it before so I wasn't sure what to expect with the notes. With the songs I know - for me anyway - I can play them easier. We'll have to do that again.bigclap

You did a great job on just about all of those songs Chenz. Bas as well. There were some songs where we probably tried at a higher skill level than we were accustomed to but it was all good.

And thanks for the Aerosmith tune. Been waiting to play that since I learned it was on the setlist.

Too bad the 360 VisionCam isn't enabled for this game...it would have been a sight. My deskchair with wheels has armrests, so I tend to sit more forward while playing (my PC and my 360 share the same screen at my desk) the guitar. To the disappointment of fans, developer Harmonix has confirmed that the Band World Tour campaign mode in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of the company's upcoming music game Rock Band will not be enabled for online play.

"Band World Tour, and consequently the endless setlist, doesn't have an online mode," wrote Harmonix community manager Sean Baptiste on the official Rock Band forums.

One of the most exciting features of Harmonix's upcoming Guitar Hero follow-up, the Band World Tour mode allows up to four players to form a band, play gigs in over 40 different venues across the world, and complete challenges to earn in-game cash.

"It was something we really wanted in there but the time to do it, and do it right taking into account all sorts of mostly unforeseen but very important things, was seriously prohibitive," continued Baptiste.

Online play via the game's competitive and quickplay modes will still be included. Despite the news, Baptiste assured fans that Harmonix is still very interested in realizing the online campaign in the future.

"It is something we are totally working for in the future as not only do you want to play it but so do we (more than you know)," added Baptiste.

Whether World Tour online play might be implemented via a patch, or is simply a feature that has been pushed back to a potential Rock Band sequel, Baptiste did not know.

I have the guitar that came with the ROckband set, I like the way it feels, the strumming is quieter (my wife really likes that part), the solo notes buttons are awesome. But does anyone ever run into the problem of putting it into overdrive? It seems like I have to throw the guitar up in the air, catch it, use it as a jumprope and then maybe it'll go into overdrive. I know you can just hit the select button to get ovet that, but I just feel like tilting the guitar up is what is was meant to do. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Peace.machgunner

Man, I hope it's not a broken guitar, I already have a broken GH2 controller, I was too lazy too send it off so I brought another one, that one works SUPER, but I mostly play with the Rockband edition guitar. Thanks for the advice.

On average the RB guitars are not very good quality, there is something wrong with mine also. Mine wont always hold long notes even when I know I did not lift my fingers and sometimes the strum bar won't strum. But there are a lot out there that have no problems. My advice is to send it back and hopefully you won't get another defective one.

I still have yet to GS 1 song sadsmiley The cut off is pretty damn high and I think you can only GS them on Exp which isnt that bad seeing as how I'm there kinda, not great or anything, but Im working my way up, lol. Might be a while before I GS a song. But hey, 95% isnt that bad for someone who was always playing on Medium, lol.

Also just because you may 100% a song, you are not guaranteed gold, there is a score threshold you need to break too.

Ya, he was having that nasty feed back issue with the mic, hed plug it in and I'm yelling at him to unplug, lol. I think I have the same problem with my drums, I know I cant hear anyone when I plug my drums in except through my speakers. So I need to return both my Guitar and drums, I just like the guitar more and dont want to loose out on the guitaring.

Personally I hate the Les Paul, you cant slide your fingers like you can on the fender, and the solo frets are awesome for the endings.

We love channeling our inner Keith Moon with the Rock Band drum set, but we do have some quibbles. Namely: When we break out with some tasty, tasty hi-hat work it just feels a little inauthentic. Sure, we could try applying some Rock Jam, but it's just not the same. You can understand then why our hunger for Ion Audio's sexy, sure-to-be-pricey new kit is nothing short of ravenous.

Not only does this kit have cymbals, but the sturdiness of the drums has also been improved. Sadly this is still just a prototype, but we're hopeful that the Wyld Stallyns can travel into the future and snag us a set.

Ok so I found something very interesting today while reading this months EGM Electronic Gaming Magazine, which is part of 1up.com and I though you guys would find this pleasing even though it's nothing to worry about for awhile. It's an interview by one of the EGM editors with one of the Rock Band project managers:

Issue 1:
EGM: "Speaking of the World Tour Mode, one of our major complaints is that it doesn't work online. Can this be fixed with a future update?"

Greg LoPiccolo: "It is certainly something that is getting a lot of attention from up. We would have liked to include it, but it's incredibly technically difficult. It's not impossible. It certainly has our attention for an agenda we'd like to pursue it in the future."

Issue 2:
EGM: "Will you be able to play all the DLC you purchase now in the inevitable sequel?"

GL: "Our conception [of the DLC program] is as a platform. And the conception of a platform that makes sense is that you don't buy all of your new CDs every year. We totally hear you on that."

The electronics - the reed switch, the magnets, the 1/8 inch plug and the speaker wire cost around $7 or $8 total...

The bass drum pad cost about $45...

I already owned the pedal.

It took about 20 minutes to solder the stuff together. And about another 20 minutes to get the switch and magnet positioned correctly.

It definitely is more responsive than the plastic pedal. The quick double taps seem to register better. I only have to left up on the pedal about a 1/4 of an inch to register an 'up'.

It IS louder - there's a soft thud as the mallet hits the rubber, but that's not too bad. The problem is that the vibrations go down into the floor essentially making my basement a giant bass drum.

Oh well... heh... I feel sorry for my neighbors.

Showstopper, a couple pages back in this thread is a video of a guy gold staring Tom Sawyer. In the comments he mentions that he's using this reed/magnet setup and posted links to the instructions. I didn't invent it, I just follow the instructions.

I actually have all the necessary electronics to make another one... if there are any local drummers around...

Yep, u get the OXM disc, u download them onto ur HD and then u use ur RB game to jam out...COOL...If u don't want to pay the price for the mag and disc, I'll be more than happy to UPS it to you, it's already downloaded on my HD, so I don't need the disc anymore...Interested?

lol ok here's the story, we just got finished playing Welcome Home (the same night where we almost got 2 mill) I requested we play ...And Justice for All. Throughout the song I can hear Bass pounding the shit out of his drums then we hit the ending. There's this pause and I hear..... "ok I just broke my sticks" When I heard that I was rolling on the ground because I was laughing so freaking hard. It was funny because of the long pause before he said that.

Yeah... but thicker will last longer...

usually when I would break sticks, it would be the tip that would come off - from repeated sideways dings to the cymbols...

The only time I broke them in half was when I was using defective sticks and it happened almost immediately.

For the record, 1st Digital Orchestra (http://www.rockband.com/bands/1st_digital_orchestra) now has 25 million fans... I think it might actually be around 29, but it takes so long for the website to update. I want them to have the custom logos start showing up... perhaps a few more stats... I saw an interview where the guy was saying the site will be a huge part of the experience.

a bit of money...

decent bass pedals are gonna run you $75+ easy. And I got my bass pad for like $40 from Guitar Center but it was a floor model.

The electronics cost only like $8...

do the warranty thing again and have them send you a new pedal... the second generation ones supposedly are better.

Damn, Im so pissed about this game, I mean it fun n all, but everything but the microphone has broke on me and Im sure thats cuz Ive hardly used it. The drum pads work only part of the time, my sticks broke, my guitar broke and the replacement makes noises. I think Ima call and complain. I mean, am I goint to have to mod the whole set so it can handle the abuse of playing a video game? Why cant thay just have done that to begin with. Wonder how much $ they are loosing out on.

Chenzo, you have your new pedal back yet? Is it any better then the 1st one? That is if you even used the replacement, lol.

I wasnt even stomping either though, just lightly hitting it, I only hit the pads hard, lol.

I did get my replacement pedal, and yes it worked better (before I replaced it with ghetto.)

My pedal broke at the same spot too.

And for the record, hitting the drum pads hard causes them to not register the next hits (since the pad doesn't come back up fast enough to register the next hit.)

that is true, I play with a feather touch and they seem very responsive that way

Mine started to crack in the same place yours did but I realized it was because I was putting all the pressure of my foot there, you have to step on the pedal near the top and it wont break anymore.

On the other hand, I decide to call up EA a little bit ago, I ask them what is the deal with all the faulty parts and stuff, I replaced a guitar for one to come back and it rattles inside and the upstrum is failing out already. I broke a set of sticks, a kick pedal, faulty drum pads, and my mic doesnt always work with the instruments. He said the 2nd gen guitars rattle inside but no word has come that they fail yet. He had no answers on why the other stuff breaks so easy. For the sticks and mic ( headset ) He said he was going to send me a free set of sticks along with a new USB hub, I guess the mic adapters come along with the hub. Still nothing for the problems with all the stuff though. You would think that maybe they would give something out for having to deal with the problems, idk, like guitar skins or free DLC or something.

At least they replace the stuff and are cool about replacing the faulty stuff, still though, it shouldnt have been made so cheap, especially the drum stuff, I mean they expect ppl to not beat on the drums? IDK about the pedal though, thats one thing I was pretty easy on. Guess I have to save and mod everything, lol

It's been unlocked since we got into the hall of fame. about a month ago. But we've got to block out about 7 hours of continuous playtime to be able to play thru all 58 songs.

My fender showed up this morning, so hopefully, when I get home from work, I'll find out if the strumming works.

the problem with the endless set list is we want to do it on Expert and we still can't beat Green Grass...

(Altho, my brother, who will be coming over the for the ESL party, got to 98% on Green Grass... he panicked at the end and and fucked it up... SOLO BUTTONS FTW.)

I think I could upstrum this one. It's REALLY easy on expert bass. There's a couple of jiggity jigs in there, but it's not hard at all.

They sell single bass drum, double bass pedals (http://www.samash.com/catalog/categorysub.asp?CategorySubID=30&departmentid=4&sourcetype=categorysearch), but none of the songs in RB require it.

BTW Chenz, The reason I was asking about a double pedal is cuz I cant keep up with the kick on a bunch of the songs, so I was thinking about a double kick setup. I knew about the real pedals being avail as duals, but I didnt know how hard it would be to do the mod, especially seeing as how I always keep my foot down til its time to hit. I didnt know if there was a way to have a 2 pedal setup without them conflicting with each other circut wise.

bass, I would just suggest learning the one pedal, they made it so you dont need a double kick...and with a double kick it would be even harder to try and co-ordinate both feet instead of just the one
